Amsterdam, NL – April 4, 2026

neno announced today that it has successfully obtained SOC 2 Type II certification and secured money transmitter licenses in 47 U.S. states, demonstrating its commitment to security, compliance, and regulatory excellence. These certifications position neno to expand its service offerings and provide customers with the highest levels of data protection and financial service capabilities.

The SOC 2 Type II certification, issued after a rigorous six-month audit conducted by an independent third-party assessor, validates that neno's information security practices meet the strict standards set by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). The audit evaluated neno's controls across five trust service criteria: security, availability, processing integrity, confidentiality, and privacy. This certification provides customers with assurance that their sensitive financial data is protected by industry-leading security protocols.

"Security and trust are the foundation of everything we do at neno," said Maria Chen, CEO of neno. "Our customers entrust us with their most sensitive financial information, and we take that responsibility seriously. Achieving SOC 2 Type II certification validates our security infrastructure and demonstrates our commitment to maintaining the highest standards of data protection. This wasn't just about checking a compliance box—it was about proving to our customers that their data is safe with us."

The money transmitter licenses enable neno to expand beyond pure accounting software into payment facilitation and financial services. With these licenses, neno can now offer customers the ability to pay bills directly through the platform, process payroll, and facilitate vendor payments without requiring third-party integrations. This expansion significantly enhances neno's value proposition, allowing businesses to manage their entire financial operation—from bookkeeping to payments—within a single platform.

Obtaining money transmitter licenses across 47 states required neno to meet stringent regulatory requirements including minimum capital reserves, surety bonds, and comprehensive compliance programs. The company worked closely with state regulators and invested significantly in legal, compliance, and operational infrastructure to meet these standards. neno expects to secure licenses in the remaining three states within the next quarter, achieving full 50-state coverage. These regulatory achievements mark an important milestone in neno's evolution from an accounting automation tool to a comprehensive financial operations platform.
